About Geoff Ramm:

A speaker called Tom Edge inspired Geoff to pursue his dream of speaking: “About 16 years ago, my Business Enterprise Lecturer from University called me up to invite me to come and see a ‘Motivational Business Guru’.

I had no idea what one was. I was the only alumni student from my year that accepted the invitation to attend that evening and I was transfixed. I loved every moment and that very evening, I said to my wife: “I’d love to do that one day”.

At the end of February 2002, Geoff and his marketing team were made redundant from a large motor retailer. 24 hours later, Geoff Ramm – Customer Service decided that this was not going to happen again and he started his own consultancy business called Mercury Marketing, of which 95 % was consulting and 5 % was speaking to local organisations.

After 6 successful years, Geoff decided what he really wanted to do for the rest of his life; to speak on his passions – marketing and customer service.

He split the Mercury brand and he introduced his new speaker brand, pushing, pulling and knocking on many doors to get his new service off the ground.

Now, in 2015, speaking is 100 % of Geoff’s business – a dream come true for him.
Geoff enjoys the messages and feedback (not immediate or on Twitter) but the ones that can come long after his talks: “A business that calls or emails you to say they have made a significant change to their communications, marketing or customer service, which has resulted in a great success, is amazing”.

One of Geoff’s biggest successes happened in South Africa when Tiger Brands took a dozen of Geoff’s ideas on board with the results being “OMG to say the least!”

Geoff loves to travel and he has been very fortunate to visit and to speak in some amazing places around the world: “Whether it will be standing on the Rocky steps in Philadelphia, having both feet on either side of the equator in Ecuador or being on top of Spion Kop on the way to speak in the Drakensburg, I still pinch myself to this day that this is happening!” he says.

Geoff believes that he has increased his stage presence since he first started speaking – “for example, being able to hold a room from 20 people to 2500 people”.

Geoff Ramm – Customer Service would also like to think that ‘belief’ is a factor in his metamorphosis – “When you start out, you invariably start local, but when your material and stories translate and they are passionately received in Philadelphia, Melbourne, Tehran, Quito and Cape Town, a great deal in your message, your material and you, can help you to shine on the stage”.

Geoff’s advice for anyone wanting to join the professional speaking industry:
“Go for it!

However, if you haven’t owned a global brand, climbed a mountain, sailed around the world or have an Olympic medal around your neck, it will be a longer road to become recognised.

Also, you need to create a professional brand identity that sets you apart from any other speaker.
